Psalm 24 - Relationship with a Pure Heart

Ancient Gates in the Eastern Wall of Old Jerusalem
Known as the Golden Gate or the Gate of Eternal Life
Open. And let the King of Glory in.
A psalm of David. The earth is the LORD's, and everything in it. The world and all its people belong to him. For he laid the earth's foundation on the seas and built it on the ocean depths.  Who may climb the mountain of the LORD? Who may stand in his holy place?  Only those whose hands and hearts are pure, who do not worship idols and never tell lies. They will receive the LORD's blessing and have a right relationship with God their savior. Such people may seek you and worship in your presence, O God of Jacob. Open up, ancient gates! Open up, ancient doors, and let the King of glory enter. Who is the King of glory? The LORD, strong and mighty; the LORD, invincible in battle. Open up, ancient gates! Open up, ancient doors, and let the King of glory enter.  Psalm 24:1-9

A right relationship with God. That is something to be desired...to strive or even work towards. As in yesterday's post...we have to get to know God--by reading His Word, praying, spending time with Him and trusting Him.

Who may stand in his holy place? Only those whose hands and hearts are pure, who do not worship idols and never tell lies. That is a good verse...a good concept...to teach our children and grandchildren.
     - But the goal of our (Paul) instruction is love from a pure heart and a good conscience and a sincere faith. 1 Timothy 1:5 (NASB)
Everything belongs to the Lord...even us...but we must be pure and spotless to stand before Him. One day we will stand before Him...spotless because of Jesus' sacrifice.
    -  If you address as Father the One who impartially judges according to each one's work, conduct yourselves in fear during the time of your stay on earth; knowing that you were not redeemed with perishable things like silver or gold from your futile way of life inherited from your forefathers, but with precious blood, as of a lamb unblemished and spotless, the blood of Christ. For He was foreknown before the foundation of the world, but has appeared in these last times for the sake of you who through Him are believers in God, who raised Him from the dead and gave Him glory, so that your faith and hope are in God. Since you have in obedience to the truth purified your souls for a sincere love of the brethren, fervently love one another from the heart....1 Peter 1:17-22 (NASB)

Prayer ~ Lord God, I humbly stand before You with my heart cleansed by the blood of Jesus, knowing that the sacrifice that He made is beyond my comprehension. I worship and adore You...Father, Son, and Holy Spirit for Your love is pure. You are holy.
