Don't Be a Fool

Jesus words from The Sermon on the Mount...
You have heard that our ancestors were told, 'You must not murder. If you commit murder, you are subject to judgment. But I say, if you are even angry with someone, you are subject to judgment! If you call someone an idiot, you are in danger of being brought before the court. And if you curse someone, you are in danger of the fires of hell.  Matthew 5:21-22

Teaching from the Old Testament...
     - You shall not murder. Exodus 20:13 (NASB) - from the Ten Commandments.
     - Do not be eager in your heart to be angry, For anger resides in the bosom of fools. Ecclesiastes 7:9 (NASB)
Compare with another translation. Control your temper, for anger labels you a fool.  Ecclesiastes 7:9 (NLT)
Anger is NOT a good thing. Although it is a normal human reaction it can be controlled and dealt with in a constructive manner. Jesus was teaching His followers that being angry with someone--it is like murdering their character. That may land you in hell. Is it worth it?
     - Don't sin by letting anger control you. Don't let the sun go down while you are still angry, Ephesians 4:26
Choose wisely--choose to control your anger--don't be a fool and let it control you!

Prayer ~ Lord Jesus..Wow--what a convicting lesson on anger and murder. Show me how to control my anger....and not sin. Forgiveness seems to be a key...forgiveness of others' actions that seem offensive. Open my eyes to see people as You see them. I don't want to be a fool...or in danger of going to hell. I praise You for Your wisdom and guidance.
