Hungry for Righteousness?

From The Sermon on the Mount...
Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they shall be satisfied. Matthew 5:6 (NASB)

Righteousness is one of those Christiantese words that Christians use casually--not realizing that those who aren't Chrisian or are new to the faith just don't understand. I was taught years ago that righteous is right living before God. Righteousness is living a pure life with correct thinking--being acceptable to God. Isn't that what we strive for...being acceptable to God.
The Lord provides food and water to satisfy the spiritual needs of our lives. It does not appear that Jesus' statement...Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they shall be satisfied....was directly quoted from any particular verse in the Old Testament--but we can that the Lord provides.
Spiritual hunger and thirst is that real desire of wanting to know the Lord more completely. That thirst is considered in Isaiah 55.
     - Every one who thirsts, come to the waters; And you who have no money come, buy and eat. Come, buy wine and milk without money and without cost. Isaiah 55:1 (NASB)
Come to the water. When he spoke to the woman at the well Jesus talked about providing living water.
Jesus answered and said to her, "Everyone who drinks of this water will thirst again....John 4:13 (NASB)
Are you satisfied with the living water that Jesus provides? Thirst is good when it is satisfied. Studying God's Word, applying it to our lives and praying are ways that our thirst is satisfied.
     - Thus says the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel, "Once again they will speak this word in the land of Judah and in its cities when I restore their fortunes, 'The LORD bless you, O abode of righteousness, O holy hill!' Judah and all its cities will dwell together in it, the farmer and they who go about with flocks. For I satisfy the weary ones and refresh everyone who languishes."  Jeremiah 31:23-25 (NASB)
Claim those promises--The Lord provides and satisfies.

Prayer ~ Lord God, Thank You for Your promises...to bless are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they shall be satisfied.
