Prayer – Lord, as You said…man cannot live by bread
alone. I’m hungry. For some nice crusty bread—even with too many carbs—and hungry
for Your word. Feed me…here on earth and someday in Heaven. Thank You.
Still they (the disciples in the Upper Room
after Jesus’ resurrection) stood there in disbelief, filled with joy and
wonder. Then he asked them, "Do you have anything here to eat?" They
gave him a piece of fish, and he ate it
as they watched. Then he said, "When I was with you before, I told you
that everything written about me in the law of Moses and the prophets and in
the Psalms must be fulfilled." Then he opened their minds to understand
the Scriptures. Luke 24:41-45
Meditate. Do you eat to live…or live to eat? Do you depend
on Jesus…or even thank Him for your food?
My family and I live to eat and eat to live. My husband
always wants to know what is for supper…when we haven’t even started to eat
breakfast! Food shared with family and friends is important—especially for birthdays,
anniversaries, any special occasions—well actually every day. Food at home…or
food at a restaurant…is essentially satisfying to our tastebuds and our
relationships. I think food issues are more of a connection with carbohydrates.
Those carbs just attack our cravings! Food is food—but is what we crave actually
some spiritual food? Jesus is that spiritually food—the bread of life. He
declared Himself to be that.
They (a crowd
who were seeking Jesus because He just fed 5,000 men) answered, "Show
us a miraculous sign if you want us to believe in you. What can you do? After
all, our ancestors ate manna while they journeyed through the wilderness! The
Scriptures say, 'Moses gave them bread from heaven to eat.'" Jesus said,
"I tell you the truth, Moses didn't give you bread from heaven. My Father
did. And now he offers you the true bread from heaven. The true bread of God is
the one who comes down from heaven and gives life to the world."
"Sir," they said, "give us that bread every day." Jesus
replied, "I am the bread of life. Whoever comes to me will never be
hungry again. Whoever believes in me will never be thirsty." John
6:30-35 (Underlined for emphasis.)

And just as they
were telling about it, Jesus himself was suddenly standing there among them.
"Peace be with you," he said. ... As he spoke, he showed them his
hands and his feet. Still they stood there in disbelief, filled with joy and
wonder. Then he asked them, "Do you have anything here to eat?" They
gave him a piece of broiled fish, and he ate it as they watched. Luke
24:36, 40-43
Real food here on earth…and real food in Heaven. Remember
that there will be a wedding feast one day in heaven. A banquet at a wedding in
Heaven. Weddings, the festivities, and receptions afterwards are always delightful
events that include food.
Let’s look forward to that joyous day!
Let us be glad and
rejoice, and let us give honor to him. For the time has come for the wedding
feast of the Lamb, and his bride has prepared herself. She has been given
the finest of pure white linen to wear." For the fine linen represents the
good deeds of God's holy people. And the angel said to me, "Write this:
Blessed are those who are invited to the wedding feast of the
Lamb." And he added, "These are true words that come from God." Revelation
19:7-9 (Underlined for emphasis.)
Yes. I think we’ll eat real food in heaven—just as we do
here on earth.
Verse of Salvation ~ Yes, I am the gate. Those who come
in through me will be saved. They will come and go freely and will find good pastures.
John 10:9
Happy Okinawa Birthday Lisa!
You came in the wind…and you
keep on going!
Love you much
