Blink of an Eye

Prayer – Lord, there are so many times that we just miss something happening around us because we blink our eyes. Don’t let us miss this wonderful secret! We’ll be transformed. You revealed this secret to Paul as he wrote to the church at Corinth.

Transformed like a butterfly.

What I am saying, dear brothers and sisters, is that our physical bodies cannot inherit the Kingdom of God. These dying bodies cannot inherit what will last forever. But let me reveal to you a wonderful secret. We will not all die, but we will all be transformed! It will happen in a moment, in the blink of an eye, when the last trumpet is blown. For when the trumpet sounds, those who have died will be raised to live forever. And we who are living will also be transformed. For our dying bodies must be transformed into bodies that will never die; our mortal bodies must be transformed into immortal bodies. Then, when our dying bodies have been transformed into bodies that will never die, this Scripture will be fulfilled: "Death is swallowed up in victory. O death, where is your victory? O death, where is your sting?" 1 Corinthians 15:50-55 (Underlined for emphasis.)

Meditate. Consider what it means to be transformed.

Is your body pure enough to stand before Almighty God?

Our human bodies are dead and dying. This is just what Paul wrote about when he said… our physical bodies cannot inherit the Kingdom of God. These dying bodies cannot inherit what will last forever. Then he revealed a marvelous secret given to him by God Himself. We will be transformed—changed into an immortal form. Remember when Jesus was resurrected and He appeared to the disciples in the upper room…without going through a door? He had been transformed into an immortal state of being. That is just what will happen to us at some point in time. It won’t just be the renewing of our minds—but transforming our bodies and our minds.

And so, dear brothers and sisters, I plead with you to give your bodies to God because of all he has done for you. Let them be a living and holy sacrifice--the kind he will find acceptable. This is truly the way to worship him. Don't copy the behavior and customs of this world, but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think. Then you will learn to know God's will for you, which is good and pleasing and perfect. Romans 12:1-2

Our minds are renewed even now as we study God’s Word. When we get to the right point in God’s plan—when that last trumpet sounds—be ready to give God glory. We will be physically transformed into an immortal state. What a glorious day that will be!

What then? God will have work for us to do. Jesus didn’t immediately ascend into Heaven when He was resurrected and transformed. Will we be “raptured” at that point in time…or will God have us stick around for a day or so to witness to those who are not transformed? That could cause a massive revival! Will people want to know Jesus as their Savior because they have seen a transformation in you? Actually, do others want to know Jesus now because of what you do, say, or how you treat them? How good of a listener are you? Everyone wants to be heard and to be loved. How are you showing love? Do you take your time to focus on others or is it done in the blink of an eye?

Verses of Salvation ~ When we were utterly helpless, Christ came at just the right time and died for us sinners. Now, most people would not be willing to die for an upright person, though someone might perhaps be willing to die for a person who is especially good. But God showed his great love for us by sending Christ to die for us while we were still sinners. And since we have been made right in God's sight by the blood of Christ, he will certainly save us from God's condemnation. For since our friendship with God was restored by the death of his Son while we were still his enemies, we will certainly be saved through the life of his Son. So now we can rejoice in our wonderful new relationship with God because our Lord Jesus Christ has made us friends of God. Romans 5:6-11
