Will Heaven Always Be Up in the Sky?

Prayer – Lord, I look to the mountains…to the sky…knowing that You live in heaven and it is from Heaven that You will come to rescue us. Come quickly, Lord.

Most importantly, I want to remind you that in the last days scoffers will come, mocking the truth and following their own desires. They will say, "What happened to the promise that Jesus is coming again? From before the times of our ancestors, everything has remained the same since the world was first created." They deliberately forget that God made the heavens by the word of his command, and he brought the earth out from the water and surrounded it with water. Then he used the water to destroy the ancient world with a mighty flood. And by the same word, the present heavens and earth have been stored up for fire. They are being kept for the day of judgment, when ungodly people will be destroyed. But you must not forget this one thing, dear friends: A day is like a thousand years to the Lord, and a thousand years is like a day. The Lord isn't really being slow about his promise, as some people think. No, he is being patient for your sake. He does not want anyone to be destroyed, but wants everyone to repent. But the day of the Lord will come as unexpectedly as a thief. Then the heavens will pass away with a terrible noise, and the very elements themselves will disappear in fire, and the earth and everything on it will be found to deserve judgment. Since everything around us is going to be destroyed like this, what holy and godly lives you should live, looking forward to the day of God and hurrying it along. On that day, he will set the heavens on fire, and the elements will melt away in the flames. But we are looking forward to the new heavens and new earth he has promised, a world filled with God's righteousness. 2 Peter 3:3-13 (Underlined for emphasis.)

Meditate. Heaven. Where is it?

Where is Heaven? If Heaven is God’s home now…what will happen when that is destroyed and there is a new Heaven and a new earth?

Look, the highest heavens and the earth and everything in it all belong to the LORD your God. Deuteronomy 10:14

And Hezekiah prayed this prayer before the LORD: "O LORD, God of Israel, you are enthroned between the mighty cherubim! You alone are God of all the kingdoms of the earth. You alone created the heavens and the earth. 2 Kings 19:15

But will God really live on earth? Why, even the highest heavens cannot contain you. How much less this Temple I have built! 1 Kings 8:27

And then at last, the sign that the Son of Man is coming will appear in the heavens, and there will be deep mourning among all the peoples of the earth. And they will see the Son of Man coming on the clouds of heaven with power and great glory. Matthew 24:30

Jesus will come in the clouds.

Even the Sea of Galilee will be no more.
Israel

Then I saw a new heaven and a new earth, for the old heaven and the old earth had disappeared. And the sea was also gone. And I saw the holy city, the new Jerusalem, coming down from God out of heaven like a bride beautifully dressed for her husband. Revelation 21:1-2

Someday…and it may not be so very far away in God’s timing…there will be a new heaven and a new earth. He has promised. Our job is just to wait patiently and serve God in any way that He asks. For now, Heaven is up, but as John wrote in Revelation, Heaven will come down. No…it says that the new Jerusalem will come down. That will be God’s new Home. So will heaven still be up!

Who but God goes up to heaven and comes back down? Who holds the wind in his fists? Who wraps up the oceans in his cloak? Who has created the whole wide world? What is his name--and his son's name? Tell me if you know! Proverbs 30:4

Just as Peter wrote…the Lord wants everyone to repent and be saved. Consider your own actions. Where do you stand with God? Is He still waiting for you to repent. Time may be short—so make your decision soon.

Verse of Salvation ~ After this, I heard what sounded like a vast crowd in heaven shouting, "Praise the LORD! Salvation and glory and power belong to our God. Revelation 19:1
