Where Do You Get Power?

Prayer – Lord God, I acknowledge that You have the power over for all earth and heaven. As John wrote…But I have received the Holy Spirit, and He lives within me, so I don't need anyone to teach me what is true. For the Spirit teaches me everything I need to know, and what He teaches is true—it is not a lie. So just as He has taught me, I remain in fellowship with Christ. 1 John 2:27 (paraphrased)

I pray that God, the source of hope, will fill you completely with joy and peace because you trust in him. Then you will overflow with confident hope through the power of the Holy Spirit. Romans 15:13

Meditate. From where do you get power in your life?

Power. Where does your spiritual power come from? Do you get it from the electricity lines outside your house, when you recharge your phone…or when you sit in church on Sunday morning? When you repent of your sins daily…are you renewed with the power, blessing, and infilling of the Holy Spirit? Jesus breathed on His disciples after His resurrection, giving them the power of the Holy Spirit. Then they received a second blessing of the Holy Spirit on the day of Jewish festival of Pentecost. Receiving forgiveness of your sins is the key—so one must repent in order to receive that.

But if we confess our sins to him, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all wickedness. 1 John 1:9

(Jesus addressing His disciples at His ascension.) "And now I will send the Holy Spirit, just as my Father promised. But stay here in the city until the Holy Spirit comes and fills you with power from heaven." Luke 24:49 (Underlined for emphasis.)

But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes upon you. And you will be my witnesses, telling people about me everywhere—in Jerusalem, throughout Judea, in Samaria, and to the ends of the earth." Acts 1:8

On the day of Pentecost all the believers were meeting together in one place. ... And everyone present was filled with the Holy Spirit and began speaking in other languages, as the Holy Spirit gave them this ability. Acts 2:1, 4

The power is from God. The Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit.

I pray that from his glorious, unlimited resources he will empower you with inner strength through his Spirit. Then Christ will make his home in your hearts as you trust in him. Your roots will grow down into God's love and keep you strong. And may you have the power to understand, as all God's people should, how wide, how long, how high, and how deep his love is. May you experience the love of Christ, though it is too great to understand fully. Then you will be made complete with all the fullness of life and power that comes from God. Now all glory to God, who is able, through his mighty power at work within us, to accomplish infinitely more than we might ask or think. Ephesians 3:16-20

But you, dear friends, must build each other up in your most holy faith, pray in the power of the Holy Spirit, and await the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ, who will bring you eternal life. In this way, you will keep yourselves safe in God's love. Jude 1:20-21

That is our mission for now…build each other up in faith…to encourage each other.

Let us hold tightly without wavering to the hope we affirm, for God can be trusted to keep his promise. Let us think of ways to motivate one another to acts of love and good works. And let us not neglect our meeting together, as some people do, but encourage one another, especially now that the day of his return is drawing near. Hebrews 10:23-25 (Underlined for emphasis.)

Are you using the power of the Holy Spirit that has been given to you to encourage others?

Verses of Salvation ~ You love him even though you have never seen him. Though you do not see him now, you trust him; and you rejoice with a glorious, inexpressible joy. The reward for trusting him will be the salvation of your souls. This salvation was something even the prophets wanted to know more about when they prophesied about this gracious salvation prepared for you. They wondered what time or situation the Spirit of Christ within them was talking about when he told them in advance about Christ's suffering and his great glory afterward. 1 Peter 1:8-11
