Stay Alert! Watch Out for Your Great Enemy

Prayer – Lord - every day is a new day—but there are some days that are more challenging than others. I’m standing firm in my faith and courageously put my trust in You as I try to stay alert and watch out for that enemy.

So humble yourselves under the mighty power of God, and at the right time he will lift you up in

honor. Give all your worries and cares to God, for he cares about you. Stay alert! Watch out for your great enemy, the devil. He prowls around like a roaring lion, looking for someone to devour. Stand firm against him, and be strong in your faith. Remember that your Christian brothers and sisters all over the world are going through the same kind of suffering you are. In his kindness God called you to share in his eternal glory by means of Christ Jesus. So after you have suffered a little while, he will restore, support, and strengthen you, and he will place you on a firm foundation. All power to him forever! Amen. 1 Peter 5:6-11

Meditate.

Remember that your Christian brothers and sisters all over the world ae going through the same kind of suffering you are. And much worse. We here in the United States have life so easy. Several websites state that homelessness in the United States is at about 0.2%. Is that an acceptable number? Who is to say why there are homeless and if they are suffering any more here than in some other country around the world? Are they suffering physically, mentally, and or spiritually?

What groups of people in the world are suffering the most spiritually, are the most oppressed, or have the highest mortality rate due martyrdom?  Generally, Americans stick their heads in the sand or turn on their latest binge TV show and ignore problems related to suffering. With the numerous mass shootings that have occurred during recent years we are mortified…but there is little we can do. Can those children and adults who were killed be considered martyrs? In a way they are, since their lives have been cut short by some vicious, vile, evil person responsible for that heinous crime. They weren’t asked before they were killed if they believed in Jesus as their Savior. A martyr is someone who is killed for their religious beliefs—but innocent blood was shed and all we can do is shake our heads and pray for those who have lost their loved ones in these horrific crimes. Again, mental illness could very easily be a confounding factor in these situations. Mental illness needs to be addressed and dealt with in all levels of society and in all age groups. I see it as the driving force in homelessness, in mass murder crimes, and in other circumstances. Don’t be deceived. These things don’t just happen. There is an evil force behind them…one involving a prowling lion who wants to devour Christians and their principals. That prowling lion is imitating another lion—the lion of Judah, Christ Jesus, our Lord. Stay alert—don’t be deceived. Watch out for that enemy—your great enemy.

Verses of Salvation ~ All praise to God, the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ. God is our merciful Father and the source of all comfort. He comforts us in all our troubles so that we can comfort others. When they are troubled, we will be able to give them the same comfort God has given us. For the more we suffer for Christ, the more God will shower us with his comfort through Christ. Even when we are weighed down with troubles, it is for your comfort and salvation! For when we ourselves are comforted, we will certainly comfort you. Then you can patiently endure the same things we suffer. We are confident that as you share in our sufferings, you will also share in the comfort God gives us. 2 Corinthians 1:3-7

Memory Verse of the Week ~ Do not be deceived. God cannot be mocked. A man reaps what he sows.  Galatians 6:7 NIV
