Prayer ~ Lord, I want to be like Job—honest, righteous, assisting those in need. I want to be like You, Jesus, compassionate, giving, caring, understanding, obedient to our Father, and above all, loving.
All who heard me praised me. All who saw me spoke
well of me. For I assisted the poor in their need and the orphans who required
help. I helped those without hope, and they blessed me. And I caused the
widows' hearts to sing for joy. Everything I did was honest. Righteousness
covered me like a robe, and I wore justice like a turban. I served as eyes for
the blind and feet for the lame. I was a father to the poor and assisted
strangers who needed help. Job 29:11-16
Meditate.
This was a discourse by Job after he was afflicted by Satan
with the trials of disease and loss of family. His world was devastated—but he
continued to praise the Lord—to have a relationship with Him. Job was a
righteous man—serving others, like the poor, the orphans, the widows…and even
the blind and lame. He was so like Jesus. Looking back, he described helping
others, his righteousness, and his integrity. Yet, he was not beyond attack
from Satan. If Job was not beyond Satan’s attack…are we? We are warned that
Satan goes about like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour. Is that
you? Be ready.
Stay alert! Watch out for your great enemy, the devil. He prowls around like a roaring lion, looking for someone to devour. Stand firm against him, and be strong in your faith. Remember that your Christian brothers and sisters all over the world are going through the same kind of suffering you are. 1 Peter 5:8-9
Your Christian brothers and sisters around the world…some
are going through much worse than we can even imagine. That devil is like a
roaring lion. Who else is called a lion in the Bible? Jesus is described in
Revelation as the Lion of the Tribe of Judah.
But one of the twenty-four elders said to me, "Stop weeping! Look, the Lion of the tribe of Judah, the heir to David's throne, has won the victory. He is worthy to open the scroll and its seven seals." Revelation 5:5
Once again Satan, or the Devil, is mimicking God…imitating
Jesus. A roaring lion—trying to show his power like the Lion of Judah—but he is
only deceiving. Don’t be deceived.
Verses of Salvation ~ Don't let anyone capture you with
empty philosophies and high-sounding nonsense that come from human thinking and
from the spiritual powers of this world, rather than from Christ. For in Christ
lives all the fullness of God in a human body. So you also are complete through
your union with Christ, who is the head over every ruler and authority.
Colossians 2:8-10
Memory Verse of the Week ~ Surely your goodness
and unfailing love will pursue me all the days of my life, and I will live in
the house of the LORD forever. Psalm 23:6
