A Special Gift…Given for You

Meditate on gifts you’ve given and received.

So if you sinful people know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your heavenly Father give good gifts to those who ask him. Matthew 7:11

Everyone likes to receive gifts…and most have heard the saying recorded in Acts…that is not actually recorded in the Gospels. It was spoken by Paul while at Miletus, and addressing the elders of the church at Ephesus.

And I have been a constant example of how you can help those in need by working hard. You should remember the words of the Lord Jesus: 'It is more blessed to give than to receive.'" Acts 20:35

Would you rather give a gift or receive it? Well…spiritual gifts are only for receiving. We can’t really give spiritual gifts since those come from our heavenly Father. He gives good gifts. Ask for whatever you need…spiritually. Consider the gift of the Spirit—the fruit of the Spirit.

But the Holy Spirit produces this kind of fruit in our lives: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. There is no law against these things! Galatians 5:22-23

What have you asked for…spiritually? Jesus was a special gift…given just for us. Have you received the gift of Salvation that He offers?

Prayer ~ Heavenly Father, Thank You for giving us the gift of Your One and Only Son. He is a gift of which we are unworthy…but eternally grateful.

Verse of Salvation ~ God saved you by his grace when you believed. And you can't take credit for this; it is a gift from God. Ephesians 2:8

Bible Trivia:

Last Week: What is Epiphany? It is the holiday traditionally celebrated twelve days after Christmas as the day that the three Wise Men, or Three Kings, visited baby Jesus. Epiphany means manifestation or appearance. It is thought that the day marks the beginning or manifestation of Christ’s appearance to the Gentile people.

This week’s Bible Trivia Question: What name did Jesus use for God?
