Rock-Paper-Scissors or Faith-Hope-Love

But now faith, hope, love, abide these three; but the greatest of these is love. 1 Corinthians 13:13

Three things will last forever--faith, hope, and love--and the greatest of these is love. - 1 Corinthians 13:13 NLT

Faith as defined in the Vine Expository Dictionary is conviction of the truth of anything, belief. Hope, in the Christian sense is joyful and confident expectation of eternal salvation. I like that “joyful expectation!” Love is affection, good will, love, benevolence, brotherly love. It is Love—that fruit of the spirit—that has been identified here as the greatest. The three, faith, hope and love are so intertwined. In my opinion, they are dependent on each other…we’ve no faith without hope…no hope without love…and no love without faith and hope. But love rules over all. It is like that kids’ game…Rock, Paper, Scissors. Each one is a winner over one other one. In this—Faith, Hope, Love…Love always wins. It rules. As this chapter of 1 Corinthians 13 began…without love I am nothing. Love rules. Love lasts forever. God is love…1 John 4:8. Who is He to you?

Prayer ~ Holy Spirit, our future depends on the choices we make. Fill us with Your love. Give us hope and faith that our love for others and for You would be complete.
