Patience and kindness—these are really
elements of love. My Mom was like that. Patient and kind. She could have won an
award for her kindheartedness—always accepting and helping others. God really
blessed a lot of people through her. When you were a kid you knew your Mom and
Dad loved you when they treated you with patience and kindness—even if you didn’t
deserve it. Your parents may have been requiring you to behave—but had patience
teaching you. That is love. That is how God treats us, too…with patience and
kindness. Even when we mess up He still loves us. Solomon is his great wisdom
wrote…The end of a matter is better than
its beginning; patience of spirit is better than haughtiness of spirit. Ecclesiastes
7:8. Patience deep in your spirit is a virtue. It is a fruit of the Spirit.
(Galatians 5:22.) It is a gift from God for His own people. So, as those who have been chosen of God,
holy and beloved, put on a heart of compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness
and patience…. Colossians 3:12. Whether
we have it or it is being offered to us—it is good. It is love. What level of
patience and kindness do you see in yourself?
Prayer
~ Holy Spirit—You are patient and kind—always responding to the voice of the
Heavenly Father and encouraging us to do what He wants us to do…to be patient
and kind…loving others. Help us to do just that…to love as You would.
