Jealous or Proud? Monday August 3

Love is not jealous or boastful or proud or rude. It does not demand its own way. It is not irritable, and it keeps no record of being wronged. It does not rejoice about injustice but rejoices whenever the truth wins out. 1 Corinthians 13:4-6

Jealousy is not a virtue, although God declared Himself to be jealous.  ...for the LORD your God, who is among you, is a jealous God. Otherwise, the LORD your God will become angry with you and wipe you off the face of the earth. Deuteronomy 6:15 HCSB. It was God's way of saying that He wanted the Hebrew people to be His chosen people. He wanted them to be pure--not tainted by loyalty to other gods. That also what jealousy, pride, and rudeness are about--tainting one's character with those selfish attitudes. Do those attitudes become like gods to us--or are we then a god unto ourselves? At any rate jealously is certainly not a quality that any of us should seek for ourselves or our children. Let's rejoice--as Paul wrote--letting truth and love win.

Prayer ~ Holy Spirit...let love not jealousy rule in our hearts and lives. May Your joy fill us and overflow from our very beings. Joyful, joyful. We adore You.
