Eternal salvation is a gift—not something
that anyone can buy with money or by doing God some favor or good works. Paul
was telling the church at Ephesus and us that we are created for good works—not
to do them so that we can boast about them. As a result of our salvation we will
want to do good stuff for God and for others to serve God. That’s about it…Paul
taught that a couple of thousand years ago and it is still the same today. So we just have to “walk” or live by faith
and obedience to God’s will and His ways. Have to? No—it our choice. God allows
us to choose how we will live, act, walk on daily—moment by moment. How does
the Holy Spirit play into this? The Holy Spirit guides us—although we still
have a choice. Jesus told us about the Holy Spirit. But when He, the Spirit of truth, comes, He will guide you into all the
truth; for He will not speak on His own initiative, but whatever He hears, He
will speak; and He will disclose to you what is to come. John 16:13. So,
are you listening to the Holy Spirit?
Prayer
~ Holy Spirit, help me to hear Your voice moment by moment so that I may walk
and live in a manner that is acceptable and honoring to God. I choose to live
by faith and obedience to my Lord and Savior.
