Don't Give Up

Love never gives up, never loses faith, is always hopeful, and endures through every circumstance. Prophecy and speaking in unknown languages and special knowledge will become useless. But love will last forever! Now our knowledge is partial and incomplete, and even the gift of prophecy reveals only part of the whole picture! But when the time of perfection comes, these partial things will become useless. 1 Corinthians 13:8-10 NLT

 

God is love. 1 John 4:7. Forever. Give thanks to the LORD, for He is good; His faithful love endures forever. 1 Chronicles 16:34 HCSB. To me that is a wonderful, hopeful promise. God isn't going to just love us for a little while--and then throw us away like an old ratty sweater.His love will last eternally. He is hopeful that we will choose to become more like Jesus. The Perfect One. Just like Paul wrote here...Love--that is God in the Holy Spirit--helps us endure every situation. A man who endures trials is blessed, because when he passes the test he will receive the crown of life that God has promised to those who love Him. James 1:12 HCSB. I've been thinking lately...What does it mean to be "blessed?" I'm always writing to my family and friends "Blessings" and we frequently say God bless you. Just what does that mean to you? Let me know what you think about blessings. 

One of the first times that "bless" or "blessing" is used in the Bible is when God spoke to Abraham. Genesis 12:2 (HCSB) I will make you into a great nation, I will bless you, I will make your name great, and you will be a blessing. That is an awesome promise. 

Jesus taught...

"But I say to you who listen: Love your enemies, do what is good to those who hate you,

bless those who curse you, pray for those who mistreat you. Luke 6:27-28 HCSB Bless--to make holy, to ask for God's divine favor or protection.

Prayer ~ Holy Spirit, please guide and protect me, my family and friends from harm today -- keeping us healthy, safe and helping us to make good decisions. I particularly lift up Rick and Marie up to you for a speedy and miraculous healing touch. Blessings on Rick and strength for Marie & Nikki. Our love and continued prayers. Thank you Lord for Your presence in their lives. In all our lives. Bring to salvation those around Rick and  Marie who see you through them.
