Renewal

…let the Spirit renew your thoughts and attitudes. Put on your new nature, created to be like God—truly righteous and holy. Ephesians 4:23-24 NLT

Let the Spirit renew you—from the inside out. Create in me a clean heart, O God, and renew a steadfast spirit within me. Psalm 51:10. Renewal is a necessary thing. We all get beaten down, discouraged, drained, depressed or just plain tired sometime. We need renewal—revitalization. There used to be big tent revivals—and then city wide revivals…now we just have an occasional sermon that refreshes us…or a retreat that gives us a renewed outlook. We need to devote ourselves to getting refreshed. I need that right now—so how do I get renewed? A couple of times I’ve gone on a half-day of prayer by myself and that was the very thing I needed. Time away from others…just God and me. He refreshed my soul—reminding me that He created me and that He wants me to be pure—even holy—so that I can stand before Him. He can only have purity in His presence. I don’t want Him to turn me away. I want to be holy.

How about you? Are you presenting yourself as a living sacrifice to God? Therefore I urge you, brethren, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies a living and holy sacrifice, acceptable to God, which is your spiritual service of worship. Romans 12:1

Prayer ~ Holy Spirit, please do create in me a clean heart and renew my spirit—my very soul that I would be pleasing to the Heavenly Father. I present myself a living sacrifice. I worship You ~ Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. You are worthy of all my praise.

Friday’s Feast at the Lord’s Table
My oven had an electrical fire in the control panel—so I’ve been without a stove for a week. New one arrives next week. In the meantime we’ve been cooking creatively without a range. One of the best meals centered around barbequed chicken. I simply cut up four chicken breasts, sprinkled them with Cock-A-Doodle-Doo Chicken Seasoning. It is made in Riverside, California. It has a nice combination of garlic, onion, paprika, oregano, sage, thyme, cumin, parsley, pepper, basil, rosemary and ginger—along with salt and other natural flavors. With the BBQ at about 350 degrees, I roasted the chicken pieces low and slow—for about ten to twelve or fifteen minutes on each side. Nice and moist. The leftovers made good chicken salad.
