Brotherly Love

Be devoted to one another in brotherly love; give preference to one another in honor….Romans 12:10

Dedication to our Christian sisters and brothers is an ongoing teaching throughout the New Testament.
Here are a few verses addressing Christian brother—or sister—issues:
Never harm or cheat a Christian brother in this matter by violating his wife, for the Lord avenges all such sins, as we have solemnly warned you before. 1 Thessalonians 4:6 NLT

He who says he is in the light, and hates his brother, is in darkness until now. 1 John 2:9 NKJV

If anyone says, "I love God," yet hates his brother, he is a liar. For the person who does not love his brother he has seen cannot love the God he has not seen. 1 John 4:20 HCSB

If you see a Christian brother or sister sinning in a way that does not lead to death, you should pray, and God will give that person life. But there is a sin that leads to death, and I am not saying you should pray for those who commit it. 1 John 5:16 NLT
Peter wrote to Christians giving them such wise instruction on actions, attitudes and their spiritual development.
And because of His glory and excellence, He has given us great and precious promises. These are the promises that enable you to share His divine nature and escape the world's corruption caused by human desires. In view of all this, make every effort to respond to God's promises. Supplement your faith with a generous provision of moral excellence, and moral excellence with knowledge, and knowledge with self-control, and self-control with patient endurance, and patient endurance with godliness, and godliness with brotherly affection, and brotherly affection with love for everyone. The more you grow like this, the more productive and useful you will be in your knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ. But those who fail to develop in this way are shortsighted or blind, forgetting that they have been cleansed from their old sins. So, dear brothers and sisters, work hard to prove that you really are among those God has called and chosen. Do these things, and you will never fall away. Then God will give you a grand entrance into the eternal Kingdom of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.. 2 Peter 1:4-11 NLT
So there we are…be dedicated to your Christian friends—and love everyone. I am reminded that I need to treat everyone as if they were Jesus Himself. By treating others as Jesus, I am honoring them and our creator. Are you committed to your fellow Christians?

Prayer ~ Holy Spirit, help me to help my Christian friends and associates that we would bring honor to the Lord.
