Who Are You Mentoring?

Prayer – Lord, I can imagine You standing before Your disciples and commanding them to go…and to teach…the same goes for us now. Teaching is mentoring. Help me to be a good mentor.

Baptism in the Jordan River
Israel

Therefore, go and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit. Teach these new disciples to obey all the commands I have given you. And be sure of this: I am with you always, even to the end of the age. Matthew 28:19-20

Meditate. Consider mentoring.

Go teach. Everyone needs a mentor and everyone needs to be mentored. Do you sometimes feel inadequate to be a mentor?

You have been believers so long now that you ought to be teaching others. Instead, you need someone to teach you again the basic things about God’s word.fn You are like babies who need milk and cannot eat solid food. Hebrews 5:12

Time to step up to the plate and do what Jesus has requested—go make disciples…teach them to obey all the commands I have given you. Yes. Be brave and look around you. Who will you mentor? I advertised a class at my church years ago for new believers and was surprised at the number of ladies who came. We studied a basic Navigators discipleship book that focus on Christian fundamentals. There were only a few ladies that actually finished the book and two who went on to the next study, but it was worth it. We all grew spiritually. Leading a Bible study or Sunday School class for any age group is a good way to mentor others. Pray that God would send you someone to mentor. Being involved in someone’s life without doing a Bible study can also be mentoring opportunity. Volunteer as a sporting coach; at a local shelter; or at a food bank and give of your time. That may provide you with a chance to serve the Lord in some way now…that could open doors for something else later. The choice is yours.

Verse of Salvation ~ For Jesus is the one referred to in the Scriptures, where it says,

‘The stone that you builders rejected has now become the cornerstone.’  There is salvation in no one else! God has given no other name under heaven by which we must be saved. Acts 4:11-12
