What is Good About Good News?

Prayer – Lord, You are the Good News for me…for everyone. Help us to make good decisions and obey the commands You have given us…including to “go make disciples of all the nations.”

All the nations
Jesus came and told his disciples, “I have been given all authority in heaven and on earth. Therefore, go and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit. Teach these new disciples to obey all the commands I have given you. And be sure of this: I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” Matthew 28:16-20

Meditate. Consider God’s Good News just for you.

What is good about Good News?  The Good News is about Jesus…and the eternal life that begins when anyone personally believes in Jesus Christ as their Savior.

For God loved the world so much that he gave his one and only Son, so that everyone who believes in him will not perish but have eternal life. God sent his Son into the world not to judge the world, but to save the world through him. There is no judgment against anyone who believes in him. But anyone who does not believe in him has already been judged for not believing in God’s one and only Son.

That’s the Good News. Jesus came from Heaven to earth as a baby and lived a normal human life until He was about thirty years old when He began his ministry—healing the sick, blind, lame, lepers, and demon possessed, as well as teaching others, especially His twelve disciples how to live following our Heavenly Father’s commands. Although He existed with a sinless life, He was arrested, tried, tortured, crucified, died and was buried in a borrowed grave. Miraculously, He was raised from the dead and after forty days, He instructed His followers to make disciples—to tell others the Good News, and then ascended into Heaven. He promised to always be with his followers as recorded in Matthew 28. Additionally, He promised to return and take His followers to His home—Heaven. That is a great promise and we can trust Him to keep His promises.

Don’t let your hearts be troubled. Trust in God, and trust also in me. There is more than enough room in my Father’s home. If this were not so, would I have told you that I am going to prepare a place for you. When everything is ready, I will come and get you, so that you will always be with me where I am. John 14:1-3.

Have you made the decision to trust in God and in Jesus Christ? He will prepare a place—a home in Heaven just for you. Go tell others and teach them to about Jesus and His plan for us. That is good news!
