Be Thou My Vision

Prayer – Lord Jesus, You are the light of the world and the light of my life. Please give me more insight into how You illuminate my life…and give me vision to see Your presence. 

Happy are those who hear the joyful call to worship, for they will walk in the light of your presence, LORD. Psalm 89:15

 

Meditate. Look for the light that Jesus brings into your life.

 

I was hoping to find a scripture source or link to the song Be Thou My Vision. It is an old Irish hymn and my Mom being part Irish loved this song…as I do. It was written so long ago, in the 8^th century, that it is in the public domain now. Consider the words and the light that God, Jesus, and the Holy Spirit bring into your life—guiding you and your relationship with them.

Be thou my vision, O Lord of my heart;
naught be all else to me, save that thou art -
thou my best thought, by day or by night;
waking or sleeping, thy presence my light.

 

Be thou my wisdom, and thou my true word;
I ever with thee and thou with me, Lord.
Thou my great Father; thine own may I be,
thou in me dwelling and I one with thee.

 

Riches I heed not, nor vain, empty praise;
thou mine inheritance, now and always;
thou and thou only first in my heart,
high King of heaven, my treasure thou art.

As you continue to build your relationship with God today—bridge that river of worldly values—look to the Lord for the joy and light that He brings into your life. Let Him be the vision of your life.
