Prayer ~ LORD, give me your unfailing love, the salvation that you promised me. Psalm 119:41
Dear friends, let us continue to
love one another, for love comes from God. Anyone who loves is a child of God
and knows God. But anyone who does not love does not know God, for God is love.
1 John 4:7-8
Meditate. Love God…love others.
Love is a basic emotion. Everyone needs
to be loved…and to love others. I recently read a book by Rachel Kadish, “The Weight of Ink” that
had a great statement I’d like to quote. “Wasn’t love, by definition, the wish
to be remembered?” I think that remembering others is a form of love. Think
about it…if you don’t care about someone, you don’t remember them. If you care
about someone—you want to totally know and remember all kinds of details,
facts, and essential ideas particular to that person.
Who do you know…and love? Do you love God? He
is love. The best place to start is with knowing God…I mean really know Him.
Get into His word…and let Him know you. Do you actually know yourself?
Maybe as you get to know God, get to know yourself, too. I’ve found in my life
that when I really loved someone, it was easier to love and care about others—even
myself. It’s like “my cup runneth over” from Psalm 23. Love just spews forth
and overflows on everyone around me. And conversely, when I’m not loving
towards God, I’m not loving towards others or myself. Remember what Paul wrote
to the Corinthians. Love is…
Love
is patient and kind. Love is not jealous or boastful or proud or rude. It does
not demand its own way. It is not irritable, and it keeps no record of being
wronged. It does not rejoice about injustice but rejoices whenever the truth
wins out. Love never gives up, never loses faith, is always hopeful, and
endures through every circumstance. Prophecy and speaking in unknown languages
and special knowledge will become useless. But love will last forever! 1
Corinthians 13:4-8
God is all those things…patient, kind,
not irritable, rejoices when truth wins. He never gives up. He is hopeful…and
He will last forever. He is eternal. God is love. God’s love overflows.
Verse of Salvation ~ I pray that your
love will overflow more and more and that you will keep on growing in
knowledge and understanding. For I want you to understand what really matters,
so that you may live pure and blameless lives until the day of Christ's return.
May you always be filled with the fruit of your salvation—the righteous
character produced in your life by Jesus Christ—for this will bring much glory
and praise to God. Philippians 1:9-11 (Underlined for emphasis.)
Memory Verse of the Week ~ And we
know that God causes everything to work together for the good of those who love
God and are called according to his purpose for them. Romans 8:28

Parenting Day By Day - Daily Devotional for Building Character
If you love God--do you want to be like His Son, Jesus?
Build your character to please God.
Who or what do you love most?
God or money?
No one can serve two masters. For you will hate one and love the other; you will be devoted to one and despise the other. You cannot serve both God and money. Matthew 6:24 NLT
