Idle Words?

Meditate. How are your words perceived?

"A tree is identified by its fruit. If a tree is good, its fruit will be good. If a tree is bad, its fruit will be bad. You brood of snakes! How could evil men like you speak what is good and right? For whatever is in your heart determines what you say. A good person produces good things from the treasury of a good heart, and an evil person produces evil things from the treasury of an evil heart. And I tell you this, you must give an account on judgment day for every idle word you speak. The words you say will either acquit you or condemn you." Matthew 12:33-37

Judgment day. You must give an account on judgment day for every idle word you speak. The words you say will either acquit you or condemn you. Idle words. Useless. Careless. Barren. Will the words you speak to others exonerate or doom you when you stand before God?

On judgment day many will say to me, 'Lord! Lord! We prophesied in your name and cast out demons in your name and performed many miracles in your name.' Matthew 7:22

Are those idle words and useless actions?

But on the judgment day, fire will reveal what kind of work each builder has done. The fire will show if a person's work has any value. 1 Corinthians 3:13

Riches won't help on the day of judgment, but right living can save you from death. Proverbs 11:4

Right living can save you…living to please God. That can only be done in His mercy and grace. We can’t do it on our own…but we can choose to submit our lives to the way God wants us to live. Judgment day is coming…ready or not.

Idle words. Honk-honk.
I stand in silence in Your presence, Lord.

Prayer ~ I stand in silence in Your presence, Sovereign LORD, for the awesome day of the LORD's judgment is near. You, LORD, have prepared people for a great slaughter and chosen their executioners. From Zephaniah 1:7. I know You keep Your promises. So…that day of judgment will come, just as You promised, for You are the Sovereign LORD. Everything will happen just as You have declared it. From Ezekiel 39:8

Verses of Salvation ~ All praise to God, the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ. It is by his great mercy that we have been born again, because God raised Jesus Christ from the dead. Now we live with great expectation, and we have a priceless inheritance--an inheritance that is kept in heaven for you, pure and undefiled, beyond the reach of change and decay. And through your faith, God is protecting you by his power until you receive this salvation, which is ready to be revealed on the last day for all to see. 1 Peter 1:3-5

Friday’s Feasting at the King’s Table

We can’t live on bread alone. Bread, pasta, potatoes, white rice, cake, cookies and chips…I’d like to leave all of those on the table. They don’t even belong on my plate, or actually in my cupboard or shopping cart since they just all are useless calories that make me gain weight. I’ve discovered that not only do I need to avoid those carbohydrate, but I need to fast in order to lower my levels of insulin and reset my insulin sensitivity. My brother who has lost about 70 pounds has accomplished this by intermittent fasting and alternate days of eating. I find that the intermittent fasting is bearable, whereas going for twenty-four or more hours without food is sometimes agonizing. Right now, I am hungry and it is time to have a nice meal of a Gyro salad. I hope that you are feasting at the Lord’s table today. Jesus enjoyed food…we should, too.

Think joy, not sorrow
