Meditate.
Then David returned to the brook Besor and met up with the 200 men who had been left behind because they were too exhausted to go with him. They went out to meet David and his men, and David greeted them joyfully. But some evil troublemakers among David's men said, "They didn't go with us, so they can't have any of the plunder we recovered. Give them their wives and children, and tell them to be gone." But David said, "No, my brothers! Don't be selfish with what the LORD has given us. He has kept us safe and helped us defeat the band of raiders that attacked us. Who will listen when you talk like this? We share and share alike—those who go to battle and those who guard the equipment." 1 Samuel 30:21-24
Some days I
just feel too exhausted—and I have to take a nap! In 1 Samuel chapter 30 read
about David’s troops, some of whom were just too exhausted to go on. After the
battle was won, not only were spoils taken, but Israeli wives and children who
had been captured were brought back. Some of the soldiers didn’t want to share
the plunder, but David wisely said, share and share alike. Good advice to create unity within his troops.
It kind of goes along with the Golden Rule. Treat others the way you want to be
treated. Even if their fellow patriots were too tired to join in the battle,
they didn’t desert
David’s army—and they welcomed back the victors. Camaraderie is a good thing—even for exhausted people. There are probably plenty of people like that these days…still with COVID anxiety or economic worries. Do you encourage other Christians who are just exhausted…tired…or worn down to a frazzle?
Prayer ~
Lord, I’ve been feeling like some of David’s troops—too exhausted to go on. I
claim the promise that Paul wrote about…I can do all things through Christ who
gives me strength. Philippians 4:13. Please continue to give me strength—to show
and share Your love with others that we all would build a better, stronger
relationship with You.
Verses of
Salvation ~ So we must listen very carefully to the truth we have heard, or we
may drift away from it. For the message God delivered through angels has always
stood firm, and every violation of the law and every act of disobedience was
punished. So what makes us think we can escape if we ignore this great
salvation that was first announced by the Lord Jesus himself and then delivered
to us by those who heard him speak? And God confirmed the message by giving
signs and wonders and various miracles and gifts of the Holy Spirit whenever he
chose. Hebrews 2:1-4These hibiscus may only last a day or two.
Then they are tired and worn out.
Are you like these flowers?
Don't drift away...don't ignore
your great salvation.
