Wait Patiently

Meditate.

This vision is for a future time. It describes the end, and it will be fulfilled. If it seems slow in coming, wait patiently, for it will surely take place. It will not be delayed. Look at the proud! They trust in themselves, and their lives are crooked. But the righteous will live by their faithfulness to God. Wealth is treacherous, and the arrogant are never at rest. They open their mouths as wide as the grave, and like death, they are never satisfied. In their greed they have gathered up many nations and swallowed many peoples. Habakkuk 2:3-5 (Underlined for emphasis.)

Wait patiently. I don’t know about you…but waiting pateintly is not an easy thing for me to do! I can wait…but patience is trying during these times of isolation and unknown circumstances. Patience is a virtue that we all can hope for. It is one of the nine qualities in the fruit of the Spirit.

But the Holy Spirit produces this kind of fruit in our lives: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. There is no law against these things! Galatians 5:22-23

Raising children can be challenging and try our patience…but waiting for the unknown or just standing six feet apart with social distancing while wearing a mask that is frankly inhibiting proper breathing can be very trying and create anxiety. This new normal may swallow up many people. It is hard to just be patient…to wait patiently for our turn…in line for groceries or for the Lord’s return.

Prayer ~ Lord God—I wait patiently and search the sky. Jesus, You went in a cloud and You will return the same way—as an angel told Your disciples at Your ascension. Come quickly, Lord.

Verse of Salvation ~ For the LORD your God is living among you. He is a mighty savior. He will take delight in you with gladness. With his love, he will calm all your fears. He will rejoice over you with joyful songs.  Zephaniah 3:17

Written to those in Jerusalem—but verses we can claim also. The Lord is our mighty Savior.
