Ungrateful?

 Meditate.

You should know this, Timothy, that in the last days there will be very difficult times. For people will love only themselves and their money. They will be boastful and proud, scoffing at God, disobedient to their parents, and ungrateful. They will consider nothing sacred. They will be unloving and unforgiving; they will slander others and have no self-control. They will be cruel and hate what is good. They will betray their friends, be reckless, be puffed up with pride, and love pleasure rather than God. They will act religious, but they will reject the power that could make them godly. Stay away from people like that! 2 Timothy 3:1-5

During this time in November we usually focus on “being thankful” since we have Thanksgiving this month. But what of this scripture that Paul wrote to Timothy…and to us…about people during the last days? We are likely in these “last days” and are certainly in very difficult times. Difficult times and difficult people. People who are boastful and proud, scoffing at God, disobedient to their parents, and ungrateful. What could be worse? Boastful, proud people who are ungrateful and ridiculing our Lord God. Don’t they realize how powerful He is? Those evil people may think they are putting down God…but in the end He will judge them. He will put them down.

I, the LORD, will punish the world for its evil and the wicked for their sin. I will crush the arrogance of the proud and humble the pride of the mighty. Isaiah 13:11

We certainly don’t want to be part of that arrogant, proud, slandering group with no self-control. We all make our choices every day. Choose not to be reckless, loving pleasure rather than God and as Paul taught, stay away from people like that! As always, the choice is ours. Do you choose to please God and be grateful to Him…or not?

Prayer ~ Lord God, Paul taught Timothy to stay away from the difficult people, and we should do the same, but he also taught the Christians at the church at Colossae…live wisely among those who are not believers, and make the most of every opportunity. Let your conversation be gracious and attractive so that you will have the right response for everyone. Colossians 4:5-6. Give us gracious words to speak that others, even the boastful self-indulgent people would be drawn to You, Jesus. May more and more people come to know you as their Savior today…while there is still time.

The night is almost gone.

Verses of Salvation ~ This is all the more urgent, for you know how late it is; time is running out. Wake up, for our salvation is nearer now than when we first believed. The night is almost gone; the day of salvation will soon be here. So remove your dark deeds like dirty clothes, and put on the shining armor of right living. Because we belong to the day, we must live decent lives for all to see. Don't participate in the darkness of wild parties and drunkenness, or in sexual promiscuity and immoral living, or in quarreling and jealousy. Instead, clothe yourself with the presence of the Lord Jesus Christ. And don't let yourself think about ways to indulge your evil desires.
Romans 13:11-14 (Underlined for emphasis.)
