Meditate
Now may our Lord Jesus Christ himself and
God our Father, who loved us and by his grace gave us eternal comfort and a
wonderful hope, comfort you and strengthen you in every good thing you do and
say. 2 Thessalonians 2:16-17
Are you thankful for the eternal comfort
and hope that God gives? Thankful? That is a humbling word in itself. Just a
few sentences before this Paul was expressing thanks to God for the salvation
of his Christian friends there in Thessalonica. It is encouraging to have
Christian friends…to pray for them and know that they are praying for you.
Prayer is powerful. It connects us to God. He is always listening—in all
circumstances. He is there to give us hope…a wonderful hope…to comfort and
strengthen us in everything—especially the good things—that we do and say. What gives you hope?
The Empty Tomb - Jerusalem
Is it your intention today to say and do good things? Things that will please the Lord and encourage others? Ways that will express your thankfulness to others and to God no matter what your circumstances?
Prayer ~ Lord God, I am… thankful in all circumstances, for this is Your will for me since I belong to Christ Jesus. From 1 Thessalonians 5:18.
Verse of Salvation ~ As for us, we can't help but thank God for you, dear brothers and sisters loved by the Lord. We are always thankful that God chose you to be among the first to experience salvation—a salvation that came through the Spirit who makes you holy and through your belief in the truth. He called you to salvation when we told you the Good News; now you can share in the glory of our Lord Jesus Christ. 2 Thessalonians 2:13-14
