Did You VOTE?

Don’t just think about it…do it!

But if you refuse to serve the LORD, then choose today whom you will serve. Would you prefer the gods your ancestors served beyond the Euphrates? Or will it be the gods of the Amorites in whose land you now live? But as for me and my family, we will serve the LORD." Joshua 24:15

You must not dishonor God or curse any of your rulers. Exodus 22:28

Choose today whom you will serve…and who will serve you…in political office. If you are in the United States…and are a registered voter, did you vote? If not, there is still time. It is important to make your vote count. We are privileged to get to choose our leaders—so utilize that right and VOTE.

Throughout Biblical history there were rulers over the people, but the people didn’t always get to choose their rulers. God Himself chose David as King of Israel at one point in time. Other times the people choose, as in the example below when the nation of Israel was still moving about in the desert—but they were an enormous population and needed leaders besides Moses alone.

Yet the LORD, the God of Israel, has chosen me from among all my father's family to be king over Israel forever. For he has chosen the tribe of Judah to rule, and from among the families of Judah he chose my father's family. And from among my father's sons the LORD was pleased to make me king over all Israel. 1 Chronicles 28:4

Choose some well-respected men from each tribe who are known for their wisdom and understanding, and I will appoint them as your leaders. Deuteronomy 1:13

Give me your tired and your poor...
Choose who you want to serve
Our nation...one nation under God
.

Choose men (or women) who are wise and can apply understanding to the problems that they are tasked to meet. Choosing or voting is important. We can note that Paul “voted” in a manner that was not for political office, but he was actually against Christians early in his years. We can only hope that no one is actually voting against Christians today…but consider that in some elections, like in Colorado, there is an initiative to consider abortion issues in that state. Voting for abortion would be like choosing the death penalty for the unborn.

Vote. It is your right.

Prayer ~ Lord God, give us wisdom as we choose our leaders. May our choices bless our nation and bring You honor and glory.

Verses of Salvation ~ Wise choices will watch over you. Understanding will keep you safe. Wisdom will save you from evil people, from those whose words are twisted. Proverbs 2:11-12
