When to Pray?

Meditate. When to pray?

Before daybreak the next morning, Jesus got up and went out to an isolated place to pray. Mark 1:35

Seashore at the Sea of Galilee
When do you pray? Where do you go to pray? I’m sure it is not in front of your TV set blaring with the latest Netflix movie playing or even into your kitchen with the radio on. I hope you can find a quiet place in your home to pray…and meditate on God’s Word. Jesus removed Himself from others. In this Scripture passage we note that He got up early, at daybreak, and went out where He could be alone to pray. He was in the Galilee area at the time…so I just imagine that He went up onto the hillside above or down to the shore of the Sea of Galilee and watched the sunrise as He talked to His Father…as He prayed. Before daybreak is such a special time of the day. The emerging light is just chasing away the night and if the wind is still, you can hear nature. Birds waking up, chirping and announcing the new day. Jesus was alone…but not really alone. He was with His Father. He just wasn’t crowded by anyone—even His disciples. The day before He had healed Peter’s mother-in-law and many other; so He may have felt drained of energy. Talking with His Father renewed His strength and power.

When you spend time in prayer, do you feel renewed, refreshed and strengthened? I’m talking about focused time in prayer…not just meal-time prayers. Do you keep a prayer journal and record your prayer requests and praises, noting when God answers your prayers? It is certainly a worthwhile effort. Prayer is a process that aligns us with Jesus… aligns our will with God’s will. Get up early and meet in a quiet place with God. If you seek Him, you will find Him.

Prayer ~ Lord, I am seeking You while I can find You. I am calling on You now while You are near. From Isaiah 55:6. Help me to wake up early in the morning and find a quiet place to commune with You.

Verse of Salvation ~ The Lord says..."Gather together and come, you fugitives from surrounding nations. What fools they are who carry around their wooden idols and pray to gods that cannot save! Consult together, argue your case. Get together and decide what to say. Who made these things known so long ago? What idol ever told you they would happen? Was it not I, the LORD? For there is no other God but me, a righteous God and Savior. There is none but me. Let all the world look to me for salvation! For I am God; there is no other. Isaiah 45:20-22
