Consider what we learn from how, when,
where and for whom Jesus prayed. Meditate on His Word.
One day some parents brought their children
to Jesus so he could lay his hands on them and pray for them. But the disciples
scolded the parents for bothering him. But Jesus said, "Let the children
come to me. Don't stop them! For the Kingdom of Heaven belongs to those who are
like these children." And he placed his hands on their heads and blessed
them before he left.
Matthew 19:13-15
Let the little children come to me. They make a joyful noise unto the Lord. |
Jesus loved the little
children. He recognized that they belonged to God…to His Kingdom. Even as young
children, they had a spiritual being. Their parents, like all parents, wanted
the best for them so they brought them to Jesus for His prayers and blessing.
How often do you as parents pray for your children? Or as grandparents, do you
pray for your grandchildren? The children were probably clamoring for Jesus’
attention, like all children do. For people who don’t have kids they might see
that as “bothering” Jesus. That’s what the disciples thought. Is Jesus only for
adults? Not at all. Jesus told His disciples, and us, that the Kingdom of
Heaven belongs to those like the children—pure in heart, eager to learn,
accepting, and desiring God’s attention. Are you like those children? I am…pure
in heart, eager to learn, accepting, and desiring God’s attention. I want Jesus
to bless me just like He blessed those little children.
Prayer
~ Bless me Jesus for I desire to be pure in heart, understand more of You and
lead others to a saving knowledge of You. You are worthy of our praise and
adoration.
Verse
of Salvation ~ For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is
eternal life through Christ Jesus our Lord. Romans 6:23
Only Jesus was without sin and so could be
the pure sacrifice for our sin. He paid a debt for us—gave us a free gift of
eternal life. Will you accept that gift? Repent. Believe.
