Month of Love

But you, O Lord, are a God of compassion and mercy, slow to get angry and filled with unfailing love and faithfulness. Psalm 86:15

Today is the infamous Ground Hog’s Day. Did the groundhog see his shadow where you are…will there be six more weeks of winter? Ugh.

What else do you think of when you think of February? Valentine’s Day. It is the month of love.
But anyone who does not love does not know God, for God is love.  1 John 4:8
God is Love.
God is love…so this is His month. Well—all the months are His months. He created them all. And God is love—so that makes all months about love. Well, that is a stretch, but love is important all year long. It is our motivating force throughout life…day by day…minute by minute. Without love, we die. Without love people do crazy things…they are crazy.

Love is what makes death sad…and yet it is what makes death bearable. We are sad because we have lost love…and yet with hope, we know that we will see our loved one again. But even that knowledge doesn’t erase the void in our hearts. Love, live, laugh. What else can we do?

Prayer ~ Lord, show us how to love. Show us how to live. Show us how to laugh. You are love…without you our lives are meaningless.. No hope. No laughter. Be the vision in our lives. Give us love, even though we don’t deserve it. With grateful thanks, we praise You.
