Lent Begins

Then he asked them, "But who do you say I am?" ... From then on Jesus began to tell his disciples plainly that it was necessary for him to go to Jerusalem, and that he would suffer many terrible things at the hands of the elders, the leading priests, and the teachers of religious law. He would be killed, but on the third day he would be raised from the dead. Matthew 16:15, 21

Jesus began His journey to the cross when He and the disciples left Caesarea Philippi, after He had asked them, “Who do you say that I am?” Who is Jesus to you? Will you follow Him to the cross?

Lent is 40-day period of time before Easter for repentance and for introspection when we reevaluate our devotion and our relationship with Jesus, our Savior. Traditionally people use this time for fasting or at least giving up something to show devotion to the Lord. What are you doing for yourself this year for Lent? As you begin your journey to the cross…as you begin Lent this year, what will you do to honor Christ?

Prayer ~ Lord Jesus, as you instructed followers, we turn from godless living and sinful pleasures. We should live in this evil world with wisdom, righteousness, and devotion to God, Titus 2:12
