Cancer in Biblical Times

Consider meditating on this topic. Cancer.

A peaceful heart leads to a healthy body; jealousy is like cancer in the bones. - Proverbs 14:30

Cancer. Tumors. Disease. Cancer is the second highest cause of death in the United States.  Just talking about the “C” word upsets many people. Scared. Scared to death. It is well known that cancer is an abnormal cell growth that can attack numerous organs or tissues throughout the body. This is a disease that began a long time ago and was evident during Biblical times as described by Elijah.   

One day he got a letter from Elijah the prophet. It read, “From God, the God of your ancestor David—a message: Because you have not kept to the ways of Jehoshaphat your father and Asa your grandfather, kings of Judah, but have taken up with the ways of the kings of Israel in the north, leading Judah and Jerusalem away from God, going step by step down the apostate path of Ahab and his crew—why, you even killed your own brothers, all of them better men than you!—God is going to afflict your people, your wives, your sons, and everything you have with a terrible plague. And you are going to come down with a terrible disease of the colon, painful and humiliating.” 2 Chronicles 21:12-15

 

Look at them! Like banks of storm clouds, racing, tumbling, their chariots a tornado, Their horses faster than eagles! Woe to us! We’re done for! Jerusalem! Scrub the evil from your lives so you’ll be fit for salvation. How much longer will you harbor devious and malignant designs within you? Jeremiah 4:13-14 The Message

God was hard on the citizens of Ashdod. He devastated them by hitting them with tumors. This happened in both the town and the surrounding neighborhoods. He let loose rats among them. Jumping from ships there, rats swarmed all over the city! And everyone was deathly afraid. 1 Samuel 5:6 The Message

What is the cure? Chemotherapy, radiation, surgery? Ultimately, the result is relying on the Lord.

He forgives your sins—everyone. He heals your diseases—everyone. He redeems you from hell—saves your life! He crowns you with love and mercy—a paradise crown. He wraps you in goodness—beauty eternal. He renews your youth—you’re always young in his presence. Psalm 103:3-5 The Message.

God is the cure. Mentally. Physically. Spiritually.

Prayer ~ Lord, Let all that I am praise the LORD; may I never forget the good things you do for me. You forgives all my sins and heals all my diseases. You redeem me from death and crown me with love and tender mercies. You fill my life with good things. My youth is renewed like the eagle's!  Psalm 103:2-5 NLT

Friday’s Feast at the King’s Table

As usual every Friday is Feast Day—Feasting at the King’s Table. We can’t live on just spiritual food …nor can we live on bread alone. We’ve got to have some meat, veggies and fruit

Middle East Lamb Kabobs

2 lbs lamb fillet, cut into 1 inch cubes

2 green peppers

2 pints cherry tomatoes

2 red onions

For the marinade:

2 tablespoons lemon juice

¼ tsp grated lemon rind

1/2 cup olive oil

1 teaspoon garlic, minced

1/2 teaspoon cumin

1/4 teaspoon turmeric (or more if desired, depending on how spicy you desire)

Salt and pepper to taste

pinch of ground red pepper or cayenne

Up to 24 hours prior to grilling, combine marinade ingredients and pour into seal-able plastic bag or covered large flat glass dish. Place lamb cubes in marinade and refrigerate until ready to grill. Be sure all pieces of lamb are coated well.

Prepare vegetables. Wash and dry veggies. Cut green peppers and onions into 1 inch chunks. Set aside. Lightly spray cooking oil onto skewers and grill to prevent sticking. Place lamb and vegetables on skewers.

Heat BBQ grill. Grill lamb kebabs for about 5-7 minutes on each side or until done as desired.
