Balsam flowers - Badger Mt. - Washington St. |
The wild flowers are especially brilliant
and abundant this spring after our snowy and rainy winter. It reminds me of a
quote that is on a cross a friend of mine gave me. “The earth laughs in flowers”
by Ralph Waldo Emerson. The earth is certainly laughing now! And I am singing
praises to the Lord for the sheer beauty of His creation. I imagine the flowers
are singing, too, joyfully for just being alive.
We are encouraged in so many Psalms to “sing.”
Sing to the Lord a new song. Sing to the
Lord all the earth. Psalm 96:1 NIV
I will sing of your love and justice; to
you, O Lord, I will sing praise. Psalm 101:1 NIV
Oh, give thanks to the Lord, call
upon His name…. Sing to Him, sing praises to Him….Psalm 105:1&2
I will thank the Lord for His righteousness;
I will sing about the name of Yahweh the Most High. Psalm 7:17 HCSB
Do you feel like singing praises to the
Lord?
I called to the Lord, who is worthy of
praise and I was saved from my enemies. Psalm 18:3.
If the enemy is depression, oppression, or just
compliancy then we may not feel like praising the Lord. If we do it anyway—it
changes our outlook and strengthens our relationship with the Lord.
Prayer
~ Lord, It is good to give You thanks and to sing praises to Your Most High
name—Psalm 92:1. I praise You at all times. Praise for You, Lord, is always on
my lips—Psalm 34:1.
