If any of you lacks wisdom, he should ask
God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to
him. James 1:5 NIV
There are a lot of wise guys out there…and
they are full of wise cracks. Who doesn’t want to be wise? Really wise? Not
just smart, but able to apply knowledge and understanding in a way that is
useful. I spent a whole year, last year as a matter of fact, focusing on WISDOM
in the Bible. God promises to give wisdom to those who seek it…and seek Him.
The fear of the LORD is the beginning of
wisdom; a good understanding have all those who do His commandments; His praise
endures forever. Psalm 111:10 NASB
God tells us to “fear” Him, to honor Him by
keeping His commandments. David writes about this “fear” in Psalm 86. Unite my heart to fear Thy name. Psalm
86:11. By this he meant that he wanted to give God his undivided
attention—undivided reverence. This “fear” is respect—not to be frightened of
something, like being afraid of the dark. God is light—in Him there is no
darkness—so have no fear! God is powerful—but that should illicit our respect,
not a fearfulness. He is the source of all wisdom—so seek Him, get to know Him
and honor Him with your respect, love and attention. Remember, He will give you
what you ask for…if you follow His instructions. Wisdom is a good thing to want
in your life. Trust Him to give it to you…and be thankful for it. I am.
Prayer
~ Lord God, I am in awe of You. You are so powerful…merciful, and loving.
Shower me, my family, friends, and neighbors with Your Wisdom and Grace in our
lives. Thank You for hearing my prayers—and for the wisdom You have given me.
Please continue to guide and direct my life and to fill me with an abundance of
Your precious wisdom.

Friday’s
Feast at the King’s Table
My favorite dish to order at any Mexican
restaurant is a pork burrito with green sauce. So I’ve tried several different
recipes to find one that tastes like that pork in the green sauce. This one is
close.
Lomo
De Cerdo En Chili Verde - Loin of Pork in Green Chili Sauce
2
Tbsp oil
1 medium onion, chopped finely
2 cloves garlic, grated
2 pounds pork loin, cut into 1-inch pieces
1 lb can of Mexican green tomatoes
(tomatillos), with liquid
3 cans mild green chilies, chopped
1 8 oz can or jar of
nopalitos – cactus pieces (do NOT add serrano chili if in the jar) – rinse well
Handful of cilantro (coriander) chopped
Salt – fresh ground
Pepper – fresh ground
Sour cream and cilantro for garnish
Heat oil and sauté onion and garlic. Add pork and brown
lightly. Add cilantro, tomatillos, chilies and nopalitos. Simmer for 1½
to 2 hours until the pork is tender soft. Salt and pepper to taste. Use
the meat in burritos or serve (6) as soup. Garnish with a dollop of sour cream
and fresh cilantro.
