Get What You Want

Now that we know we have—Jesus, this great High Priest with ready access to God—let us not let it slip through our fingers. We don’t have a priest who is out of touch with our reality. He’s been through weakness and testing, experienced it all—all but the sin. So let’s walk right up to Him and get what He is so ready to give. Take the mercy, accept the help. Hebrews 4:14-16 The Message

What a promise—Jesus has been though all of our human temptations. He is ready to answer your requests. The New American Standard Bible translates these verses as…

Since then we have a great high priest who has passed through the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold fast our confession. For we do not have a high priest who cannot sympathize with our weaknesses, but one who has been tempted in all things as we are, yet without sin. Let us therefore draw near with confidence to the throne of grace, that we may receive mercy and may find grace to help in time of need. Hebrews 14-16 NASB.

God knows all about temptation—and He provides the answer.

No temptation has overtaken you but such as is common to man; and God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you are able, but with the temptation will provide the way of escape also, that you may be able to endure it. 1 Corinthians 10:13

The rays of sunshine allow us access to God's throne.
I love that God is so wise and loving. He knows our weaknesses, but He uses them to make us stronger—to allow us to gain our strength and insight from Him. The key is…we make the choices. We can accept and follow God’s direct…His plan for us…or we can selfishly reject His plans…Him.

The Holy Spirit is telling us through this scripture in Hebrews that we can approach God’s throne and ask for mercy, for help. He will give it to us. What a great promise! I’ll take that—I’ll accept God’s help in my life. Without Him life would be scary, fearful, boring, and oppressive for me. What would your life be without God? If you want more of Him in your life, walk right up to Him and ask Him for what you need. He’s got a plan and an answer for you.
Prayer ~ Thank You, Lord God that you care about me so much…and that You not only listen to my cries for help, but You answer me. You have a plan for me. You’ve said…I have it all planned out—plans to take care of you, not abandon you, plans to give you the future you hope for...Jeremiah 29:11 (the Message). I trust You, Lord, with my life. Show me more of Your plan day by day.
