But Thou, O Lord, art a God merciful and
gracious, slow to anger and abundant in lovingkindness and truth. Psalm
86:15 NASB
Lovingkindness. It is compassion and mercy.
Ethan the Ezrahite sang about God’s
lovingkindness in Psalms 89.
I will sing of the lovingkindness of the
Lord forever; to all generations I will make known Thy faithfulness with my
mouth. For I have said, “Lovingkindness will be built up forever; in the
heavens Thou wilt establish Thy faithfulness.” Psalm 89:1-2 NASB
Another Psalmist wrote about lovingkindness
in Psalm 117—the shortest Psalm found in the middle of the Bible.
Praise the Lord, all nations; Laud Him, all
peoples! For His lovingkindness is great towards us. And the truth of the Lord
is everlasting. Praise the Lord! Psalm 117:1-3 NASB
The sons of Korah also praised the Lord and
recognized His lovingkindness in Psalm 48.
We have thought on Thy lovingkindness, O
God, in the midst of Thy Temple. Psalm 48:9.
Think on His lovingkindness—His compassion
and mercy in your life. You don’t have to be in Jerusalem—or even in any church
to focus on God and to praise Him for His lovingkindness in your life.
Prayer
~ Once again Lord, I ask for your mercy and compassion—Your lovingkindness to
cover the lives of my family, friends and neighbors. Your mercy is new every
morning—and gives us hope throughout our days. I praise and thank you for Your
lovingkindness.
