Not Guilty

Then Pilate had Jesus flogged with a lead-tipped whip. The soldiers wove a crown of thorns and put it on his head, and they put a purple robe on him. "Hail! King of the Jews!" they mocked, as they slapped him across the face. Pilate went outside again and said to the people, "I am going to bring him out to you now, but understand clearly that I find him not guilty." John 19:1-4 NLT

Even if Jesus was “not guilty” He was flogged—beaten with a brutal whip. My heart cries for Him—the brutality of the day focused on this innocent man…because of my sin…of all the sin of the world. Yet without His suffering we would never be able to stand before Him one day…before our Heavenly Father, too. Jesus’ blood washes us spiritually clean—white as snow. … For we will all stand before the judgment seat of God. For it is written, "As I live, says The Lord, every knee shall bow to me, and every tongue shall give praise to God." Romans 14:10-11.

Slapped in the face. As if beating Him wasn’t enough. Then Pilate said that he didn’t find Jesus guilty—but we know the end of the story…The King of the Jews was crucified and died for our sin. But that is not the end of the story. Stay tuned to the final outcome.

RSVP:  Jesus endured beatings, humiliation, false accusations…and gave His life. How will you respond to His love for you today?

Prayer ~ Jesus, precious Savior, my heart cries out to You—in humble gratitude for all that You endured—all You did taking my sin to the cross. Bless You my Savior. I praise You forever.

Friday’s Feast at the King’s Table
Its 98 degrees today. HOT! Time for some cool watermelon. It is such a thirst quencher. A one inch slice of watermelon has less than 100 calories—so eat up. If you want to drink your watermelon instead eating it, try a watermelon smoothie.

Watermelon Smoothie

6 cups chopped seedless watermelon
1 cup lemon sorbet
½ cup ice

Place half of the watermelon in a blender and blend until smooth. Add half of the sorbet and ice. Blend. Then repeat with the other portion of watermelon, sorbet and ice. Pour into chilled glasses and serve immediately. Garnish with a fresh mint leave if desired. Makes 6 servings. This is still less than 100 calories. Enjoy.
