Listen Without Grumbling

Jesus answered and said to them, “Do not grumble among yourselves. No one can come to Me unless the Father who sent Me draws him; and I will raise him up on the last day. It is written in the prophets, ‘And they shall all be taught of God.’ Everyone who has heard and learned from the Father, comes to Me." John 6:43-45

Just listen...don't grumble. Just like little kids the Pharisees were grumbling among themselves. Jesus told them not to grumble. And then He says everyone who has listened, they will learn from God the Father...and will be given eternal life. Are you listening and actually hearing what God the Father is saying? Are you learning from Him? That should be our greatest desire---to know more about Jesus and about God the Father. How do we do that you may ask? It is so simple...and yet since it will take our time...so it is difficult. At the end of several of His parables, Jesus said...He who has ears, let him hear. Matthew 13:9. Even the disciples didn't understand Jesus underlying message in some of the parables. So they asked Jesus to explain what He meant. In Matthew 13:13-17 He explains to the disciples why He was speaking in parables. Therefore I speak to them in parables; because while seeing they do not see, and while hearing they do not hear, nor do they understand. In their case the prophecy of Isaiah is being fulfilled. You will keep on hearing, but will not understand; you will keep on seeing, but will not perceive; for the heart of this people has become dull, with their ears they scarcely hear, and they have closed their eyes, otherwise they would see with their eyes, hear with their ears, and understand with their heart and return, and I would heal them. But blessed are your eyes, because they see; and your ears, because they hear. For truly I say to you that many prophets and righteous men desired to see what you see, and did not see it, and to hear what you hear, and did not hear it. Do you hear? Do you see?

RSVP: Jesus is inviting us to listen to God the Father. Do you have a teachable attitude? Are you listening and learning from God the Father? How will you respond to Jesus today...and to our Heavenly Father?

Prayer~ Lord Jesus, take away my grumbling spirit and fill me anew with a desire to listen and learn.
