Life or Death?

For this reason the Jews were persecuting Jesus, because He was doing these things on the Sabbath. But He answered them, "My Father is working until now, and I Myself am working." For this reason therefore the Jews were seeking all the more to kill Him, because He not only was breaking the Sabbath, but also was calling God His own Father, making Himself equal with God. Therefore Jesus answered and was saying to them, "Truly, truly, I say to you, the Son can do nothing of Himself, unless it is something He sees the Father doing; for whatever the Father does, these things the Son also does in like manner. "For the Father loves the Son, and shows Him all things that He Himself is doing; and the Father will show Him greater works than these, so that you will marvel. "For just as the Father raises the dead and gives them life, even so the Son also gives life to whom He wishes. John 5:16-21

Jesus healed people when and where they were. It didn't matter what day of the week it was. The Jewish leaders were angry with Him for healing on the Sabbath. They had such strict legalistic rules. And to top it off, Jesus was saying that He was equal with God the Father. That really annoyed them. No one could be equal with God. Jesus wanted people to get excited about the power of God--but the Jewish leaders were not going to marvel at anything. They were going to use Jesus' power against Him...as they plotted to kill Him. Jesus was wanting to give life...eternal life. They were wanting to give death--but it was just a physical death.

RSVP: Jesus gives life to those He wants to. Would you like Him to give you life...abundant life?

Prayer~ Lord Jesus, I believe You are the Son of God. Please continue to give eternal and abundant life to me, as well as my children, grandchildren, other family and friends.
