Prayer – Lord – Thank You that once again You have promised to not abandon us—those who love You and live to please You. We’ll stay on Your path…the straight and narrow one that leads to You—keeping us safe forever.
Once I was young, and now I am old. Yet I have never
seen the godly abandoned or their children begging for bread. The godly always
give generous loans to others, and their children are a blessing. Turn from
evil and do good, and you will live in the land forever. For the LORD loves
justice, and he will never abandon the godly. He will keep them safe forever,
but the children of the wicked will die. The godly will possess the land and
will live there forever. The godly offer good counsel; they teach right from
wrong. They have made God's law their own, so they will never slip from his
path. Psalm 37:25-31Holy Family Shrine

Meditate. Read God’s word today and stay on His path.
Once I was young…and I felt like I was twenty-seven for
years…but now I am old. I sometimes feel like I am almost eighty…but I’m
not nearly that old! There is still so much I want to accomplish in my life—although
I’ve about given up on quilting or crocheting a queen-sized quilt or afghan blanket for
my grandchildren. My grandmothers and my Mom did that…but I’m way behind in attempting
that. They’ll have to settle for a copy of the books I’ve written for them!
It is a sad commentary on life during these COVID times
that children may actually be going hungry. There are more homeless families
now and the food lines at food distribution centers are long. Food is still
available…so like David we can say… Yet I have never seen the
godly abandoned or their children begging for bread. I’m not sure about
that last part? Are people in line at food distribution centers “begging” for
bread? It is amazing the amount of food that is given away on a weekly basis. A
friend of mine helps package up food…and we used to do the same at our church,
but that program has been discontinued. At least four boxes of food are provided
to each family weekly. The boxes contain fresh fruits and vegetables, meat and
dairy products, breads and cereals, and canned goods; enough to feed a family
for a week. Then they do it all again. The food comes from leftovers at grocery
stores, surplus at other food distribution centers, and donations from
individuals. What will they do when the shelves are truly empty? Will the children
have to beg for bread? Only time will tell. We can only hope that the economic
situation doesn’t get that stressed anytime soon. We can only trust that the
Lord will provide. He has promised that He will never abandon the godly.
What a great promise! It is given over and over in a few different ways…but
still the same message. He loves us…and won’t abandon us—casting us aside. I’ll
take that security any day! I’ll stay on His path.
Verse of Salvation ~ But giving thanks is a sacrifice
that truly honors me (God). If you keep to my path, I will reveal to you the
salvation of God. Psalm 50:23
