Don’t Be Misled

Prayer – Lord – Guide my heart, soul, and mind in Your ways that I would not be deceived or misled. I want to live to please You…and I know that if I’m led astray, I won’t be pleasing You. Guide my family—especially my grandchildren—and friends and help us all to make good decisions.

God blesses those who patiently endure testing and temptation. Afterward they will receive the crown of life that God has promised to those who love him. And remember, when you are being tempted, do not say, "God is tempting me." God is never tempted to do wrong, and he never tempts anyone else. Temptation comes from our own desires, which entice us and drag us away. These desires give birth to sinful actions. And when sin is allowed to grow, it gives birth to death. So don't be misled, my dear brothers and sisters. Whatever is good and perfect comes down to us from God our Father, who created all the lights in the heavens. He never changes or casts a shifting shadow. He chose to give birth to us by giving us his true word. And we, out of all creation, became his prized possession.

James 1:12-18

Meditate. Consider God’s guidance in scripture. Read God’s word and listen to what He is saying.

Read that passage again. God is never tempted to do wrong, and he never tempts anyone else. Temptation comes from our own desires, which entice us and drag us away. God never “tempts” anyone, nor is He Himself tempted. Additionally, note that “out of all creation, we became His prized possession.” Not the cute and cuddly panda bears, the monstrous elephants or whales, the mighty gorillas, the bouncy kangaroos, or a humble fish. Humans. Designed in His own image—breathed into the breath of life. Yes. We are special, unique, and prized. Can you live up to God’s expectation? Don’t ever say, “God is tempting me.” He doesn’t tempt us…I think He loves us too much to do that. Temptation is evil and that is what Satan is all about. Evil. Don’t be misled and tempted away from God’s love and mercy. You’ll get a crown of life if you endure the temptations that come your way. God has promised that.

Verse of Salvation ~ Don’t be afraid of what you are about to suffer. The devil will throw some of you into prison to test you. You will suffer for ten days. But if you remain faithful even when facing death, I will give you the crown of life. Anyone with ears to hear must listen to the Spirit and understand what he is saying to the churches. Whoever is victorious will not be harmed by the second death. Revelation 2:10-11 (Message to the Church in Smyrna.)

Memory Verse of the Week ~ Don’t be misled—you cannot mock the justice of God. You will always harvest what you plant. Galatians 6:7 NLT

Were you successful in memorizing this verse this week? You’ll harvest your rewards if you do!
