Prayer – Lord , I am tired…please give me rest. Rest in Your presence…and joy in our hearts as we celebrate another Sabbath day.
Meditate. Read God’s word and listen to what He is saying.
God expects us to observe His Sabbath days—to rest and show
respect. Respect to Him, to His priests and servants, as you can read in the
scripture passage before and after this verse…we are to respect our parents. God
even expects the land itself to observe a time of rest every seven years (see
Leviticus 25:2). What day is the Sabbath? Lots of people struggle with recognizing
either Saturday or Sunday as the Sabbath Day. Traditionally, for the Jews, the
Sabbath is the seventh day of the week, Saturday. For the Christians, the day
of the resurrection of their Savior, Jesus Christ, Sunday is the Sabbath. Which
ever you choose, be consistent about your choice and celebrate that same day—not
switching back and forth to meet your desires of the day or week. Choose this
day whom you will serve.
Verse of Salvation ~ Then Jesus said to his critics,
"I have a question for you. Does the law permit good deeds on the Sabbath,
or is it a day for doing evil? Is this a day to save life or to destroy
it?" Luke 6:9
Happy Birthday, Melissa!
