Will You Wear a White Robe?

Meditate.

Wake up! Strengthen what little remains, for even what is left is almost dead. I find that your actions do not meet the requirements of my God. Go back to what you heard and believed at first; hold to it firmly. Repent and turn to me again. If you don't wake up, I will come to you suddenly, as unexpected as a thief. Yet there are some in the church in Sardis who have not soiled their clothes with evil. They will walk with me in white, for they are worthy. All who are victorious will be clothed in white. I will never erase their names from the Book of Life, but I will announce before my Father and his angels that they are mine. Revelation 3:2-5

Sardis was a luxurious city in Asia Minor. Now it is an obscure village of ruins. In this passage Jesus is providing a great promise to those righteous believers in Sardis…I will never erase their names from the Book of Life…. That should provide such security as well as a feeling of love and acceptance for those who will be clothed in white. Notice that Jesus first…and once again…states: Repent and turn to me again. When Jesus started His ministry, He called people to Repent. Then those who are worthy…who are righteous—living a pure and holy life…will walk with Jesus Christ.

-        …O people, the LORD has told you what is good, and this is what he requires of you: to do what is right, to love mercy, and to walk humbly with your God. Micah 6:8 (Underlined for emphasis.)

-        But be very careful to obey all the commands and the instructions that Moses gave to you. Love the LORD your God, walk in all his ways, obey his commands, hold firmly to him, and serve him with all your heart and all your soul. Joshua 22:5 (Underlined for emphasis.)

Walk—that is to follow, just to go with, or to step out in faith—with Jesus wearing pure white robes. The word robe is also translated as a stole, which is a long scarf. I like scarves…and we are getting into a time of the year to wear scarves, shawls and wraps. Brace yourself—cold weather is coming soon!

Jesus promised that these victorious, holy people will wear white robes—robes of purity. Pure people dressed in white. The best part of this promise is that these people will be introduced—pure and holy—to the Almighty God—our Heavenly Father.

  •          And may the Lord make your love for one another and for all people grow and overflow, just as our love for you overflows. May he, as a result, make your hearts strong, blameless, and holy as you stand before God our Father when our Lord Jesus comes again with all his holy people. Amen. 1 Thessalonians 3:12-13
  •          Everyone who acknowledges me publicly here on earth, I will also acknowledge before my Father in heaven. Matthew 10:32

Stand up for Jesus here on earth…and He will stand up for you in Heaven. What more could we want?

Walk in purity—holy before the Lord now and Jesus assures us that we will walk with Him in Heaven.

Prayer ~ God, You have united us with Christ Jesus. For our benefit You, God, made Christ Jesus to be wisdom itself. Christ made us right with God; he made us pure and holy, and he freed us from sin. From 1 Corinthians 1:30. Jesus, we long to one day be clothed in white and walk with You.

Verse of Salvation ~ I pray that your love will overflow more and more, and that you will keep on growing in knowledge and understanding. For I want you to understand what really matters, so that you may live pure and blameless lives until the day of Christ's return. May you always be filled with the fruit of your salvation--the righteous character produced in your life by Jesus Christ--for this will bring much glory and praise to God. Philippians 1:9-11

Happy Okinawan Birthday, Lisa!
