Do You Call God, Abba Father?

Meditate.

Then those who feared the LORD spoke with each other, and the LORD listened to what they said. In his presence, a scroll of remembrance was written to record the names of those who feared him and always thought about the honor of his name. "They will be my people," says the LORD of Heaven's Armies. "On the day when I act in judgment, they will be my own special treasure. I will spare them as a father spares an obedient child. Then you will again see the difference between the righteous and the wicked, between those who serve God and those who do not."  Malachi 3:16-18

God will spare His people—His chosen people and His adopted family—when He judges the people of the world. The righteous will be spared! What a wonderful thing to know that God loves who He loves so much that none of them will end up tormented forever in Hell. He is going to spare them that punishment. He says as much right here in this passage in Malachi. Oh, I am so glad I’m a part of the family of God. Jesus Christ is my Messiah—my Savior and my Lord. He is also my brother. I was adopted into God’s family when I accepted Jesus as my Savior.

Are you led by the Spirit of God?
For all who are led by the Spirit of God are children of God. So you have not received a spirit that makes you fearful slaves. Instead, you received God's Spirit when he adopted you as his own children. Now we call him, "Abba, Father." For his Spirit joins with our spirit to affirm that we are God's children. And since we are his children, we are his heirs. In fact, together with Christ we are heirs of God's glory. But if we are to share his glory, we must also share his suffering. Romans 8:14-17

Serving God is a privilege that those who love Him just do. It is also a command in the Scriptures for the children of Israel—and for us today.

And now, Israel, what does the LORD your God require of you? He requires only that you fear the LORD your God, and live in a way that pleases him, and love him and serve him with all your heart and soul. Deuteronomy 10:12

We also read this in Deuteronomy 6:13 and it was repeated by Jesus when He was tempted by the devil.

Jesus replied, "The Scriptures say, 'You must worship the LORD your God and serve only him.'"  Luke 4:8

So, do you love, worship and serve God as your Father? Will He consider you among His righteous family when it comes time to judge the people of this earth? If not, choose today to love the Lord as your God—to choose Jesus to save you from your sin.

Prayer ~ Lord God, everyone has sinned; we all fall short of Your glorious standard.  From Romans 3:23. Forgive me for my sins and allow me to be part of Your family, that I may call You, Abba Father.

Verse of Salvation ~ If you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is by believing in your heart that you are made right with God, and it is by confessing with your mouth that you are saved. Romans 10:9-10
