Hope

Meditate.

Let us hold tightly without wavering to the hope we affirm, for God can be trusted to keep his promise. Let us think of ways to motivate one another to acts of love and good works. And let us not neglect our meeting together, as some people do, but encourage one another, especially now that the day of his return is drawing near. Dear friends, if we deliberately continue sinning after we have received knowledge of the truth, there is no longer any sacrifice that will cover these sins. There is only the terrible expectation of God's judgment and the raging fire that will consume his enemies. Hebrews 10:23-27

Have Hope! Hope in God. He can be trusted to keep his promise. If you share this hope with others it is likely that it will encourage and motivate others to show acts of love and good works.

As well as encouraging hope, this passage gives us some discouraging information.

Dear friends, if we deliberately continue sinning after we have received knowledge of the truth, there is no longer any sacrifice that will cover these sins. There is only the terrible expectation of God's judgment and the raging fire that will consume his enemies.

We really must REPENT. We can’t continue sinning. Sin erases hope.

Hope erases sin. Encourage others with this news, while there is still time.

…encourage one another, especially now that the day of his return is drawing near.

There are so many people predicting that we are truly living in the last days. As you look at world events you can see so many of prophesies have been fulfilled. Israel is back in the Promised Land and for seventy years they have been prospering and thriving in the Land of Milk and Honey. Peace accords with neighboring nations have occurred—and now other nations are rising up against them over energy issues. Look at the news for yourself. The heavens are once again experiencing a meteor shower. Is it another sign that is fulfilling a promise? We don’t know when Christ will return, but He told us to be ready and to watch for signs, as written in the book of Joel and repeated in Acts.

'In the last days,' God says, 'I will pour out my Spirit upon all people. Your sons and daughters will prophesy. Your young men will see visions, and your old men will dream dreams. In those days I will pour out my Spirit even on my servants--men and women alike--and they will prophesy. And I will cause wonders in the heavens above and signs on the earth below--blood and fire and clouds of smoke. The sun will become dark, and the moon will turn blood red before that great and glorious day of the LORD arrives. But everyone who calls on the name of the LORD will be saved.' Acts 2:17-21

Whenever Christ returns, we need to be ready. Prayed up. How are you doing with that?

Prayer ~ Dear Lord God, As You’ve taught…I repent of my wickedness and pray to You. Perhaps You will forgive my evil thoughts, for You can see that I am  full of bitter jealousy and am held captive by sin. From Acts 8:22-23

Verse of Salvation ~ That is why the LORD says, "Turn to me now, while there is time. Give me your hearts. Come with fasting, weeping, and mourning. Don't tear your clothing in your grief, but tear your hearts instead." Return to the LORD your God, for he is merciful and compassionate, slow to get angry and filled with unfailing love. He is eager to relent and not punish. Joel 2:12-13

Friday’s Feast at the King’s Table

As usual every Friday is Feast Day—Feasting at the King’s Table. We can’t live on just spiritual food …nor can we live on bread alone. We’ve got to have some meat, veggies and fruit.

Juice up some grapes. There are plenty on the vine now. If you have a juicer take it out and juice up some grapes. No juicer…try using a colander and mashing the grapes, catching the juice in a bowl underneath. Jesus spoke about the juice of the vine. He used the wine, as part of the Passover feast, in His last supper with His disciples.

And he took a cup of wine and gave thanks to God for it. He gave it to them and said, "Each of you drink from it, for this is my blood, which confirms the covenant between God and his people. It is poured out as a sacrifice to forgive the sins of many. Mark my words--I will not drink wine again until the day I drink it new with you in my Father's Kingdom." Matthew 26:27-29

We can look forward to a great banquet with Jesus in Heaven one day. For now enjoy some fresh grape juice or wine.
