Shadow of Death

Consider these verses from Psalm 23 (NKJV) ( underlined for emphasis):

The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want.
He makes me to lie down in green pastures; He leads me beside the still waters.
He restores my soul; He leads me in the paths of righteousness For His name's sake.

Valley of Armageddon - Megiddo Valley Israel
Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil;
For You are with me; Your rod and Your staff, they comfort me.You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies; You anoint my head with oil;
My cup runs over.

Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me All the days of my life;
And I will dwell in the house of the LORD Forever.

Shadow of Death. Death hovering over you...or one you love. We usually think of the place of death as a hospital bed...or the site of a car accident. But it could happen anywhere, even in the Valley of Armageddon. The shadow of death....
     There were those who dwelt in darkness and in the shadow of death, Prisoners in misery and chains, Psalm 107:10 (NASB)

Dwelling in darkness, confusion. That is not where we want to be...but for some reason we find ourselves there. Life is like that. Living in the shadow of death. We are all there at some time since we are all going to die...sometime. Enjoy your loved ones and appreciate your friends every day. Let those who are special to you know how much you love them--how much you care.

Dear Jesus, oh how we love You. Allow Your love to flow through us to others that they would know how much we love them...and how much You love them. Let us not dwell for long in the "valley of the shadow of death" that we would loose sight of You--our Lord and our shepherd. May we not be prisoners in misery.

Our hearts go out to those who have lost family and friends recently. Lord, may You comfort them...and in a Your mercy give them your peace and strength.
