Be Still and Know

God is our refuge and strength, always ready to help in times of trouble. So we will not fear when earthquakes come and the mountains crumble into the sea. Let the oceans roar and foam. Let the mountains tremble as the waters surge! A river brings joy to the city of our God, the sacred home of the Most High. God dwells in that city; it cannot be destroyed. From the very break of day, God will protect it. The nations are in chaos, and their kingdoms crumble! God's voice thunders, and the earth melts! The LORD of Heaven's Armies is here among us; the God of Israel is our fortress. Interlude Come, see the glorious works of the LORD: See how he brings destruction upon the world. He causes wars to end throughout the earth. He breaks the bow and snaps the spear; he burns the shields with fire. Be still, and know that I am God! I will be honored by every nation. I will be honored throughout the world. The LORD of Heaven's Armies is here among us; the God of Israel is our fortress. Psalm 46:1-11

God is our refuge and strength, always ready to help in time of trouble….Be still, and know that I am God! Such reassuring words. God is always there for us. Everyone has a time of trouble…everyone—sometime—somewhere—to some extent. Big problems or just little problems. They still are troubles with which we must cope. But the beauty of it is God is there for us—to help us or just be there. How does one get in touch with God?  Do we have to die to see the Lord?

The calm Sea of Galilee. Be Calm.
Be calm and know that God IS God. He is all powerful, omniscient, omnipresent.
The LORD himself will fight for you. Just stay calm. Exodus 14:14

For the LORD your God is living among you. He is a mighty savior. He will take delight in you with gladness. With his love, he will calm all your fears. He will rejoice over you with joyful songs.  Zephaniah 3:17
He will take delight in you. Stay calm…be calm. You will find Him in His Word…read the Bible. Listen. Listen for a still small voice. That could be the Holy Spirit guiding you, but search for those words in His Word. He will give you peace…His peace.

Prayer ~ Dear Lord, as the Israelites were being chased into the Red Sea when they left Egypt, …Moses told the people, "Don't be afraid. Just stand still and watch the LORD rescue you today. The Egyptians you see today will never be seen again. The LORD himself will fight for you. Just stay calm." Exodus 14:13-14. We won’t be afraid—You are always with us. You promised to never leave us or forsake us (Deuteronomy 32:6) and that even the Holy Spirit would never leave us (John 14:16). Thank you for those promises. I will be still and listen for Your voice…as I read Your Word and rest in Your peace and strength. You will be honored throughout the world.

Happy 94st Birthday, Auntie Merc!
May our Lord continue to bless you! Be Still and Know that He IS God!
