Hope in Watching and Waiting

And now, dear brothers and sisters, we want you to know what will happen to the believers who have died so you will not grieve like people who have no hope. For since we believe that Jesus died and was raised to life again, we also believe that when Jesus returns, God will bring back with him the believers who have died. 1 Thessalonians 4:13-14

Do not grieve. There is Hope!  Paul wrote to the church at Thessolonica to encourage them--so they would not feel hopeless. This was written in the first century after Christ's death and Ressurection--about 51 AD--and they were already hopeful expecting Christ's return. Now in 2020--over 1969 years later we are still waiting for Christ's return-- eminately waiting. Hopefully waiting. We have hope. Paul taught this to the church at Thessolonica...and to all Christians. Hope is eternal.

Hope in the Son!
Sunflower reminding us of the hope...in following the Light.
Look at this sentence...when Jesus returns, God will bring back with him the believers who have died. Bring back...the believers who have died. Bring back--back from where? Other translations use  "fallen asleep" for "died" strengthening the assurance that Christians have life after death in the resurrection. They will "wake up" to live again. Death is not the End of Everything. The "dead" Christians will come back to life--resurrected when Christ returns. That should give us hope.

Prayer ~ Dear Jesus, thank you for truly dying for our sins. Your resurrection gives us hope. We live now and always in God's mercy and grace. We praise You and look forward to Your return.
