In God's Favor

In those days, and for some time after, giant Nephilites lived on the earth, for whenever the sons of God had intercourse with women, they gave birth to children who became the heroes and famous warriors of ancient times. The LORD observed the extent of human wickedness on the earth, and he saw that everything they thought or imagined was consistently and totally evil. So the LORD was sorry he had ever made them and put them on the earth. It broke his heart. And the LORD said, "I will wipe this human race I have created from the face of the earth. Yes, and I will destroy every living thing--all the people, the large animals, the small animals that scurry along the ground, and even the birds of the sky. I am sorry I ever made them." But Noah found favor with the LORD. This is the account of Noah and his family. Noah was a righteous man, the only blameless person living on earth at the time, and he walked in close fellowship with God.
Genesis 6:4-9

Noah's Ark - near Amsterdam
Death to the human race. God was displeased--all would die..except--there was Noah. God liked Noah. He was a righteous man. OK. God decided...I'll spare Noah and his little family--everyone else will die. They have made poor choices and become an evil bunch of people. Death to the masses. Life to the few who love life...who love Me. A massive death sentence to wipe out the evil in the world. Imagine the grief in God's heart. These people that He created...that He loved were so rebellious and evil that He couldn't keep them around any longer, not much longer anyway. It took Noah 100 years to build the ark (see Genesis 6-7). Then rain and floods...and mankind and most of the animals were destroyed. Only Noah, his family, and the chosen animals packed into the ark survived.

Look at your life. Would God see you as a righteous person as He saw Noah? We have a choice as to how we live...and whether we choose to please God or not. Choose wisely. Where you spend eternity may depend on the choices you make today. Choose to call Jesus your Savior--choose life.

Prayer ~ Dear Lord, I choose You as my Savior. I claim Your promise that You won't leave me or forsake me. You've promised that You won't destroy the world with a flood--but with fire. So spare us as You light that fire...someday. May we continue to be in Your favor.
