Look at the Hands of Those Running for Office?

Both their hands are equally skilled at doing evil! Officials and judges alike demand bribes. The people with influence get what they want, and together they scheme to twist justice. Micah 7:3

It is time to consider how you will cast your vote in this election…if you haven’t already.

Gate at Garden of Gethsemane
Will this gate open for you?
Repentance, forgiveness,  salvation...
or judgement?
VOTE! Not to vote is the same as…casting your vote for Hillary! Is that what you want to do?

How miserable I am! I feel like the fruit picker after the harvest who can find nothing to eat. Not a cluster of grapes or a single early fig can be found to satisfy my hunger. The godly people have all disappeared; not one honest person is left on the earth. They are all murderers, setting traps even for their own brothers. Both their hands are equally skilled at doing evil! Officials and judges alike demand bribes. The people with influence get what they want, and together they scheme to twist justice. Even the best of them is like a brier; the most honest is as dangerous as a hedge of thorns. But your judgment day is coming swiftly now. Your time of punishment is here, a time of confusion. Don't trust anyone—not your best friend or even your wife! For the son despises his father. The daughter defies her mother. The daughter-in-law defies her mother-in-law. Your enemies are right in your own household! As for me, I look to the LORD for help. I wait confidently for God to save me, and my God will certainly hear me. Micah 7:1-7 (underline mine)

We must consider the scripture in the context in which it was originally used. Micah is a short prophetical book in the Old Testament that was written about 700 BCE to the common people in Israel and Judah—the Northern and Southern Kingdoms at that time. Through Micah God was warning His people that judgment was coming to them unless they accepted His offer of pardon by repenting. This was applicable in Micah’s time…and God still has a coming judgment for everyone.

What does this have to do with voting in the 2016 Election in the United States? There are few truly upright, righteous people with integrity and honesty. God wants His people to be honest and truthful…just like Him. Are we…are those qualities in the people we choose to be our leaders? The choice belongs to each of us as we cast our ballots.

Prayer ~ Lord God, please give us wisdom as we choose the next leaders of our country and vote on local political issues. We want to have leaders that are worthy of You—who seek You with all of their heart, soul, mind and strength. Give our country a vision of Your will and Your ways that we would turn from our current ways and seek You.
